It might have taken 20 years but Northern Irish beer fans are finally going to get to taste some of the world’s most revered beers from the United States.
Stone Brewing opened in San Diego in 1996 and has grown from a small microbrewery with just two founders – Greg Koch and Steve Wagner – into one of the largest craft breweries in the United States, employing more than 1,100 people.
Belfast-based drinks company Phoenix Premium Drinks have got the exclusive rights to distribute the US beers in Northern Ireland and judging by this clip of people reacting to one of the spiciest beers on the planet brewed by the guys at Stone, things are about to get very interesting…
“We’re excited to see interest in craft beer continue to grow in Europe,” said Stone co-founder Greg Koch.
“We looked for a distributor partner as committed to delivering fresh craft beer as we are and one that would handle our beers as carefully as we brew them.
“Phoenix Premium Drinks meets all of our high standards, including refrigeration throughout every step of the distribution process.”
Niall McMullan, managing director of Phoenix Premium Drinks, said: “Our business has been built on bringing the world’s leading craft beers to Northern Ireland. Stone Brewing Company brings a new flavour and style to the market and we are excited about working with the team to maximise the full potential of this iconic range.”
You’ll be able to get your hands on an ice-cold Stone in The Vineyard, The Lighthouse, Grange Wines, Brewbot, Laverys and a host of other bars and off sales across NI.
Stone is another exciting addition to Phoenix’s portfolio which includes Yardsman, Asahi, Sam Adams and Angry Orchard.
As well as their own amazing range of beers Stone has taken part in some groundbreaking collaborations, like this mash-up with Scottish brewing legends Brewdog…
