Ryan’s is the steadfast bar and restaurant that has remained a Lisburn Road highlight for many, many years.

Previously known as the Four in Hand Bar which was an old coaching house (where Seamus Heaney was reported to meet others upstairs in the bar to write poetry!), Ryan’s was renamed around 2002.

Whilst many other bars & restaurants in the area have come and gone, Ryan’s has maintained a strong stream of both new and loyal customers. But we’re definitely not surprised…

Having recently enjoyed a fantastic slap-up meal for two at Ryan’s, we were instantly hooked thanks to the terrific service, mouth-watering food, and local menu with a modern twist.

On that note, here’s why we’re certain Ryan’s will remain one of Belfast’s most popular venues for food & drink – for at least the next 14 years!

1. The Amazing Menu

A large portion of Ryan’s loyal customer base is surely down to the amazing food that’s on offer. Whilst new diners are constantly drawn to the restaurant thanks to its rave reviews and word of mouth appeal, loyal clientd definitely keep returning to enjoy the famous menu that never disappoints.

The vibrant 70-seater restaurant offers a unique, relaxed environment – the ideal setting for enjoying traditional food with a modern twist.

2. Ryan’s Wings

Ryan's famous wings

Particularly famed for having the best wings in Belfast, Ryan’s even holds an annual Wing Eating Contest for any foodie superfans out there!

(To find out how to enter, Like Ryan’s on Facebook or follow them at @RyansBelfast on Twitter)!

But seriously – you seriously need to try them!

3. The Food Is All Locally Sourced

The guys over at Ryan’s are truly passionate about food and where it comes from – and that’s reflected in the mouth-watering menu.

The pork is locally sourced, whilst all off of the sausages are award winning Hannan meats, made from local rare breed pigs. Meanwhile, all of their beef is locally sourced – as well as almost all of the chicken.

Local vegetables are also used, with selections changing regularly to incorporate what’s in season. Ryan’s also ensures that all of their milk, butter and cheddar are local – as in the fish!

4. Seriously Budget Friendly Meal Deals

Amazing! Steak at Ryan's

No wonder it’s so popular with students and well, basically anyone trying to look after their money! With the added bonus that you’re always gauranteed fantastic food too, which certainly isn’t always the case in reasonably priced restaurants.

5. The Burgers

The burgers at Ryan’s are outstanding. Ordering from the innovative ‘Build Your Own’ format, you can choose your own filling; bap; dressing; and toppings all from an extensive menu.

Alternatively, you can opt for one of the incredible suggestions, such as The Rowena. Designed & named by @Rowenaribena in Ryan’s Twitter competition, it includes blue cheese, basil and bacon – and it served best with beef. Sounds delicious!

6. Craft Beer Selection

Ryan’s have a great Craft Beer selection, just check out this new RPA from Gallopers which has just been added!

7. 50 Inch Screen Tvs!

Match days

Ryan’s Bar downstairs has long been hailed as a terrific spot to watch the match, with its large 50 inch screens and close approximation to the bar!

Combine this with seriously competitive drink prices and electric atmosphere on match days – and you’ll soon be hooked.

Deals on match days include the likes of Pint & Wings for just £6; Spaten 500ml £3.50; and Coconut Daiquiris for only £4!

8. Wine

We were seriously impressed with the choices of wine on offer as well – which included our favourite bottle of Rose served freezing cold in its own ice bucket.

But perhaps most importantly for a couple on a night out, the price per bottle was really reasonable. Meaning our bill wasn’t rocketed up by the price of drinks – unlike some places we could mention!

9. Service

Service with a smile makes such a difference – that’s why we love the friendly team at Ryan’s!

In fact, you need go no farther than Ryan’s Facebook for confirmation that this is clearly the case for everyone at Ryan’s. The most recent review, from Jamie Lister, praises the friendly service, adding:

“The lady who was mainly looking after table was just fantastic, dealing with 20 must have been hard, but she did it all with a smile on her face and even made time to have a chat with the kids, which went a very long way…”

We couldn’t agree more! Not only is food served with a smile and personality, service is quick, efficient and top marks all round.

10. Quizes

Sunny Quiz at Ryan's

Ryan’s appeals to a hugely dynamic range of ages – from families to students to nearby residents who consider it their faithful local. So it’s great to see the place is always buzzing.

Never more so, in fact, than on Quiz Night. The guys over at Ryan’s have tested our knowledge of some of our favourite shows over the years. Ranging from It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia; Friends; Father Ted and loads more.

We can’t possibly discuss Ryan’s though, without mentioning the fact they, incredibly, sell Butterbeer throughout Halloween!

That’s right, in keeping with their rather epic quizzes, Ryan’s go all out at Halloween with a Harry Potter quiz and month long run of Butter Beer.

And it’s everything we ever dreamed it would be.
