Exciting news has emerged for the people of Belfast this week, as airline Virgin Atlantic announced plans to double the number of direct flights from Belfast to Orlando from four to eight next year.

The company launched a service of a limited number of seasonal flights from Belfast International to Orlando in 2015.

However, from next year, there will be two flights every seven days over the four-week summer period.

Orlando Florida is a renowned tourist attraction – possibly thanks to the fact that it’s home to more than 12 theme parks, and two famous water parks. A few highlights include:

1. Universal’s Islands of Adventure

Explore comic books, timeless tales and blockbuster movies as they come to life right before your eyes!

Face the dinosaurs of Jurassic Park and enter a land where magic is real at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Hogsmeade! Soar high above the city streets on The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man, now in high-def 3-D.

You’ll get splash happy with your favorite cartoon characters in the water rides of Toon Lagoon. And step right into the pages Dr. Seuss’s children’s books in Seuss Landing. Islands of Adventure is the stuff legends are made of.

2. Sea World

Immerse yourself in wonder at SeaWorld Orlando, where the aquatic world comes alive like no place else. Climb aboard and ride the mighty Manta.

Experience the power and grace of killer whales in the awe-inspiring Shamu show One Ocean. Share an epic voyage with sea turtles on the 3D, 360-degree TurtleTrek – and loads more (including a new amazing 200-foot thriller roller-coaster – coming soon!)

3. Lego Land

Lego Land theme park has more than 45 rides, shows, attractions, restaurants, shops; and a botanical garden and a water park – as well as a hotel!

Meanwhile, the first of Virgin Atlantic’s current four direct flights to Orlando from Belfast International has already begun.

The Belfast to Orlando service is part of Virgin Atlantic’s joint venture partnership with Delta Air Lines.

A Boeing 747-400 aircraft is being used to carry passengers on this year’s flights. It consists of 14 upper class seats, 66 premium economy seats and 375 seats in economy.
