For weeks now, anticipation has been building after a new shop sprang up on the Lisburn Road – with seriously cryptic boarding that left us all guessing what it could be.
The only subtle clues seemed to indicate this could be another standout restaurant for the popular foodie destination – and it seems we definitely won’t be disappointed.
As it’s been revealed today that Salad, the latest venture by Slim, will open this week in a bid to transform the misconception salads are dull and boring.
Salad, a pop-up by Slim of Slim’s Healthy Kitchen, will serve a selection of 11 home salads alongside a ‘build your own’ option, offering over 50 fresh ingredients allowing customers to get creative and build their own bespoke meal with endless possibilities.
Salad will officially open its doors to the public on Wednesday, August 17, and to celebrate they will be giving salads away for free between 12pm – 2pm for a small donation to Macmillan Cancer Support.
The exciting news comes as Google reports a 50% search increase in the term salads in the UK over the past 12 months, and this is a trend Slim has identified in his existing businesses.
Slim explained, “Salads are a massive part of our lunchtime offering at the restaurants and the pop-up will cater for people who don’t have the luxury of time to enjoy the sit-in experience.
“Many of us are grabbing something pre-packed for lunch and eating it back at our desk – ultimately ending up with a carb crash in the afternoon.
“I want to change that by offering a super charged salad that’s packed full of nutrients and provincial freshness. We’ve teamed up with Smart of Belfast to deliver to customers who simply can’t escape the office”.
Salad will deliver to surrounding areas including Lisburn Road, Botanic, Malone, Stranmillis and Ormeau with ordering available online for delivery or collection on www.saladbyslim.com.
The new pop-up venture will open Monday to Friday, 11am – 3pm and as well as catering for vegans and vegetarians, there’s also a wide array of options for those who avoid gluten and dairy.
For those gym goers wanting a plate of protein, Salad have six options to top on to a plate of greens. There is also a meal plan option of three salads per day, which is prepared fresh every morning with the option to double the protein offering.
Slim added: “Many of the salads on offer have fewer calories and less carbs than a pre-packed sandwich!”
Home salads and build your own start at £5.50 alongside a list of juices priced at £3.50. Salad is located at 214 Lisburn Road, Belfast, opposite Tesco’s.
