It’s the news every football fan in Northern Ireland has been waiting for since Mexico ’86.
Our national football team are about to be immortalised as football stickers once again. That’s right, imagine how infinitely better Niall McGinn will be as a little rectangle with a sticky back.
But not only will Panini be featuring Northern Ireland in its new Euro 2016 collection, it will be dedicating an entire album to the Green and White Army.
Even though there’s been no more than 30 players featured in the qualifying campaign, Panini have stretched the collection to 204 stickers, meaning that there’s probably going to be at least 50 of those scenes that you have to match up but the edges never quite meet.
Here’s what Panini have to say: “Panini are excited to announce the launch of their brand new Northern Ireland Sticker Collection. This awesome new sticker album from Panini is on sale now and includes a 32 page album with a total of 204 stickers to collect. Collectors can get their collection off to a flying start with a starter pack which includes an album and 31 stickers, retailing for £2.99. Sticker packets contain 5 stickers each and are priced at 50p. There are a total of 24 of the sought-after shiny stickers to look out for.”
I know, it’s a complete an utter con, but in the spirit of childishness nostalgia we’ll be going at it full tilt.
Anybody else taking part can meet us at the bus stop outside the Apartment to swap doubles.
