We were invited along to check out the progress of Belfast’s newest hotel today – with the first guided tour of the £4million state of the art Bullitt.
The hotel, which wraps Victoria Street and Ann Street, is the latest brainchild of the Beannchor Group.
Beannchor is the dynamic team responsible for some of Belfast’s most attractive hotspots, from the city’s five-star Merchant Hotel, The National Grande Café and Sixty6, The Dirty Onion, Little Wing Pizzeria and over 40 pubs across Northern Ireland!
Amazingly, the new hotel is set to open in around eight weeks time, with a schedule of opening for the public in mid-October.
But Petra Wolsey, Marketing Director of The Beannchor Group, who led the guided tour, told us that the deadline is definitely manageable.
“It might look like a lot of work – but we’ll definitely open on time after finishing the work to the highest standard imaginable – which we’ve been doing throughout!”
Indeed, the innovative new hotel promises to bring a new and exciting hospitality concept to Belfast.
Named after the Steve McQueen movie of the same name, Bullitt Belfast is a vibrant new space that will provide a cool new space for people to ‘work, play and stay in the heart of the city.’
It will feature 43 stylish bedrooms, three bars (including Baltic, NI’s first ski-themed bar), a courtyard garden, a 68-seater restaurant ‘Taylor and Clay’, an Espresso bar and a versatile private events space.
“The Bullitt is high end – but with a human touch,” explained Petra: “It’s not mass produced, the Bullitt has personality!
“For example, the hotel will have a great shop on the ground floor – supplying everything from forgotten toiletries for weary travellers, drinks and even food for anyone after a nibble!
“Therefore because of the shop, we don’t need mini-bars in all of the rooms – so we’ve done away with them. The Bullitt is all about providing for guests, and providing them with what they need in the best way possible.”
Petra added: “Conall Wolsey and I believe in the importance of getting everything right for our guests. That means heat, light and music.
“The temperature must be just right – not too hot, and not too cold – or our guests won’t want to come back. We’ve developed a design to create a light, spacious feel so it feels bright and welcoming. Then finally, it’s all about music.
“Baltic will be one of the best places in Belfast for a cool night out with amazing music and a DJ playing every weekend. It’s been a labour of love for us for the past six months – Conall and I are passionate about music!”
Meanwhile, at the heart of Bullitt will be Taylor & Clay, a restaurant with a kitchen tha will boast a bespoke Asador Grill – the largest indoor grill in Belfast.
With the head chef of The National developing an exciting new menu, which will work in tandem with local producers to ensure the freshest food possible is served daily.
Think prime cuts of meat and seafood that’s charred and smoked, creating a unique flavour that will get your taste buds all fired up.
For those looking for something a little greener, try Taylor & Clay’s garden club specials – hand-grown and harvested by Bullitt’s chefs in partnership with David Love Cameron’s organic heritage garden at Helen’s bay.
“We’re really excited about serving fresh, local food and changing the menu regularly to arrange the freshest dishes.
“We passionately believe that’s where food is going in Belfast and we’re so excited to be serving local, quality food!”
In addition, Bullitt is embracing coffee and cocktail lovers alike – with a special Nitro Coffee list, as well as a small, hand crafted cocktail list to enjoy in the luscious Bullitt Courtyard Bar!
And caffeine addicts will love the Espresso Bar – featuring the first and only Kees Van der Weston coffee machine in Ireland.
Cosy bedrooms range in size from Dinky; Comfy; and Roomy – all of which feature King Size Beds, rain showers and perfectly crafted furniture, complete with tons of storage space.
In addition to the positive economic impact of the new hotel, which will create 100 new jobs when it opens, Bullitt will assist in fulfilling the demand for additional hotel bed space in Belfast.
Commenting on the announcement, Conall Wolsey, Director, Beannchor added:
“Bullitt will offer so much more than just a bed for the night, it will also be a place where people can work, relax and socialise.
“It will be a space for meetings, coffee and lunch during the day and a place to meet and mingle over cocktails and food at night.”
