Belfast Giants played in front of their biggest crowd in 12 years at the Odyssey last night (Saturday).

More than 7,000 people turned out to watch them in action against the Nottingham Panthers.

It flies in the face of derision the sport of ice hockey in Northern Ireland receives from fans of more established sports. The numbers don’t lie and sports fans have voted with their feet in making their way to the Odyssey in huge numbers.

Sadly they didn’t see their team win with the Panthers securing a 3-2 victory, however the Giants have another chance to get one over on their rivals when they play them again today (Sunday) at 4pm.
