Belfast’s 26th Pride Festival is about to commence, kicking off this Friday, July 29 with an assortment of parades, parties and events lasting for 10 days right up until Sunday, August 7!

Belfast Pride is Ireland’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender festival with an audience of up to 50,000 people each summer.

With this year’s theme: “We are one” Belfast Pride is all about celebrating the fantastic diversity in our city.

With this in mind, we bring you the most amazing highlights from this year’s Pride Belfast!

1. Belfast Pride – Official Launch And 2016 Awards

Friday July 29, Belfast City Hall, 7pm – 10pm

They’re back and bigger than ever! On the opening night of Belfast Pride, the leading LGBTQ awards ceremony in Belfast, celebrations will showcase the very best of Belfast’s LGBTQ community in the impressive surroundings of the Great Hall in Belfast City Hall.

The Belfast Pride Awards recognise contributions to the LGBTQ community from across a range of sectors from business, entertainment and community support groups.

2. Big Pride Picnic

Saturday August 30, City Hall, 12pm – 5pm

With admission free, you can enjoy a family picnic day out in the luscious green lawns of Belfast’s City Hall whilst enjoying a screening of classic Disney/ Pixar animation UP on the huge screen (showing at 3pm).

You can bring your own food for free, or buy some lovely food and snacks on the day from local sellers across the lawn!

There will also be fun for all ages from toddlers to grown ups… and it’s all free! From giant inflatables on the lawn, HERe NI’s Family Fun Day with Arts & Crafts, and Storytelling & Music.

3. Northern Whig Gin Masterclass

Thursday August 4, Northern Wig, 8:00 pm – 11:30 pm


A great chance to experience the Whig and its Specialist Gin Menu with a unique Gin Master Class.

You’ll get to sample four Premium gins with tuition, guidance and entertainment from the Northern Whig’s very own gin expert. You can also enjoy a range of food from our bar bucket range.

Each ticket includes four Premium gins and £5 from each ticket will be donated to to Belfast Pride.

4. Rainbow Project Big Gay Quiz

Thursday August 4, Mandella Hall, 8:00 pm – 11:30 pm

Check out the return of the big gay quiz, now in its 4th year of questioning.

Join the guys at Mandella Hall for the return of the totally out there and popular BIG GAY QUIZ and BBQ!

Test your knowledge, eat some food, win some prizes and raise some valued funds for the vital work of The Rainbow Project. (Max. 6 people per team).

5. The Belfast Pride Parade

Saturday August 6, Custom House Square, 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm

The 2016 Belfast Pride Parade will take place on Saturday from 1.00pm.

The parade is the biggest single parade in Belfast, the biggest cross community parade and it brings a rainbow of colour to the city centre!

Bring your friends, your family – whatever that means to you, bring your colleagues and anyone that matters to you to make a huge display of Unity and Solidarity on the streets of Belfast.

Join the party atmosphere at the pre-parade build up from 11.30am before the parade sets off at the new time of 1.00pm sharp.

6. The 2016 Street Party!

Saturday August 6, Kremlin & Union Street Bar, 5pm until late

Recently reformed, B*witched headline this year’s Pride Street Party, whilst Jake Quickenden, Danny Beard and Barbara Bryceland will also be making an appearance.

With free admission and hosted by Sonya Mac and Grainne Dee, be prepared for highlights including  Trudy Scrumptious – who always gets the party going!

7. Official Belfast Pride After Party

Saturday August 6, Villa, 9pm – 2am

Villa Belfast

The only Official After Party contributing to Belfast Pride, Villa in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter plays host to the biggest party to wrap up Pride Day in style, hosted by DJ’s Roscoe and Steve Turnbull.

Celebrate the end of Pride Day 2016 and help support an even bigger and better festival in 2017!
