We’re kind of obsessed with the (not so hidden) gem that is 5A.
It’s the quaint, charming little coffee on the Lockview Road – and here’s five reasons why you need to go now (if you’re one of the very few who haven’t already been)…
1. The Coffee
When coffee is this lovingly prepared, it is evidenced in the taste. One of the clear frontrunners in our recent Break The Chains: Belfast’s Best Independent Coffee Shops, 5A has managed the impossible. Their coffee is consistently delicious (we come here almost every day. Coffee freaks, we know).
2. The Sandwiches
Our favourites include this garlic chicken and sun-blushed tomato with rocket, as well as the sublime Reuben (below).
Featuring pastrami, sauerkraut, home-made Russian dressing and Emmental cheese on toasted rye bread.
3. The Location
Ideally located just a stone’s throw away from the Lagan Towpath, and just a short stroll away from the bustling main Stranmillis area of shops, Queen’s University buildings and Stranmillis – perfect for a pick me-up, weekend brunch or late night romantic meal.
4. Those Buns
Between the mouth-watering carrot cake, scrumptious flavour oozing doughnuts, and crumbling cookies, there’s barely enough room left for their amazing amazeballs. But we manage. Somehow.
The amazing Peanut Butter Balls are not to be missed, and they offer a great selection of Gluten, Wheat and Dairy free!
Make sure you try Man Made by Dan Larkin’s baked goods which are also on offer – the Carrot Cake is particularly to-die-for!
5. Park Your Bike
The ideal reward for a nice healthy spin at the weekend is made all the more convenient with the many bike spaces. Calm is restored.
