The Giant’s Causeway, renowned for its polygonal columns of layered basalt, is the only UNESCO World Heritage Site in Northern Ireland and in 2015 was awarded the UKs Best Heritage Attraction at the British Travel Awards.

Resulting from a volcanic eruption 60 million years ago, this is the focal point of a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and has attracted visitors for centuries. It harbours a wealth of local and natural history.

But many of us Northern Irish natives have never made the trip up here before. So why not rectify this with a fun road trip with your Significant Other?!

The Lagan Towpath is a great walk with gorgeous views, and even boasts a glorious halfway pit stop in the form of magnificent hidden gem Lock Keeper’s Inn. Which is even dog friendly (incase a four-legged third wheel is tagging along!)

So it’s no wonder this idyllic spot was recently awarded the International Blue Flag Award.

One of the best places to go in Belfast if you’ve got a day off to enjoy with your significant other, the Ulster Museum boasts exhibitions that range from Modern History; 1916; and special one-off events.

Of course, the Ulster Museum is also famously home to Takabuti – the mummy of an Egyptian lady!

It also boasts one of the nicest deli’s in Belfast courtesy of the Yellow Door Cafe, with its floor to ceiling windows overlooking Botanic Gardens you can enjoy the sight of people getting soaked as you bite into your Goats Cheese Croque Monsieur!
