More than 400 people at the Belfast office of global law firm Allen & Overy (A&O) are hoping to get into peak condition thanks to a new initiative aimed at boosting workplace health and wellbeing.

The firm’s ‘Be Well’ programme will promote activity and resilience for employees of all ages and abilities and provides free nutritional advice, access to in-house fitness classes, therapeutic [or sports] massages and discounts on selected fitness equipment.

Developing long-term programmes to support workplace health and wellbeing is high on the agenda for many businesses and recent figures indicate that sickness and absenteeism costs the UK economy an average of £29 billion each year.

This programme is part of A&O’s wider strategy to provide ‘best in class’ personal and professional development opportunities within the Belfast Support Services Centre which supports a network of 46 worldwide offices.
