As we all know, a promised ‘heatwave’ in Belfast might not last that long – so here’s a list of some of the best ways to ensure maximum fun in the sun:
1. INDULGE YOURSELF WITH A FANCY COCKTAIL
Whether you dust off your old blender to make your own, or head out to Belfast’s infamous Cuckoo, complete with hilariously-named cocktails in jam jars and student friendly prices, make sure to treat yourself with an icy delight (ahem, or three).
2. EMBRACE YOUR INNER CHILD – AND GO FOR AN ICE-CREAM
You will be spoiled for choice if you head towards the Lisburn Road for the most decadent treats imaginable. Expect a queue out-the-door at Cafe Mauds or just a stone’s throw away, the Cookie Box has the most truly decadent array of milkshakes on offer.
3. GO TO THE PARK (OBVIOUSLY)
Take your treats to the idyllic retreat from the hustle and bustle to the hidden sanctuary that is Cranmore Park, where you can fight over the swings in the kids’ play area, or simply just chill out in the greenery. Make sure to blast Will Smith’s ‘Summertime.’
4. HAVE A BBQ…(WHILE YOU STILL CAN)!
The key here is to at least try to have everything cooked before the dreaded rain comes and the umbrella goes up over the sizzling array of hotly-anticipated meats… as is what usually happens here in Belfast.
5. GO FOR A WALK
Distinguished by its famous ‘Napoleon’s Nose’ – all of Belfast can be seen from the peak of Cave Hill on clear, sunny days. But be warned – wear your walking shoes!
