If you don’t know who folk artist Laura Marling is, fear not because we have the low-down.
With the popularity of folk music on the rise it’s hard to know who’s worth your time.
Having been nominated for the Mercury Prize three times and nominated for two Brit Awards as well as winning best female in 2011, we’re fairly sure Laura is one of those artists worth checking out when she comes to Belfast in May.
She will play Belfast’s Waterfront Hall on Friday May 8 following the release of her new hotly anticipated album Short Movie on March 20.
As Laura’s fifth album in seven years, Short Movie is a fantastic achievement for a young writer just 25 years old.
According to producers this album, her first self-penned, is “moving towards a much bigger & electric feel” with a “much freer and looser sound” than anything she has done before.
She said: “I realised that I hadn’t been in place for longer than two or three weeks since I was 16.
“I thought I wonder what will happen if I try and root myself somewhere?
“Look back over the past eight years.”
