There’s a 1979 film called The Wanderers and the soundtrack could be heard throughout the 80s and most of the 90s blasting out across every mum’s sound system.
It brought alive the sound of the 60s for those of us who might never have even bothered to listen in.
No matter how cool we want to be the 60s and 70s pop sound is something that is ingrained in us.
And when Emma Bunton brought out her single Maybe we cringed as we sung along.
Now pop hunk Shayne Ward has jumped on the retro music bandwagon and I have to say nailed it.
With the help of pop producer Mike Stock – of Stock, Aiken & Waterman fame – Shayne’s most recent track My Heart Would Take You Back has a wonderful modern twist on a retro ballad.
Have a listen below and tell us what you think. It’s just the first release of his new album Closer.
If you like it you can catch him at HMV in Belfast this Sunday (5pm) where he will be signing copies of his new album Closer.
Closer is Shayne’s fourth album. Since winning the X Factor in 2005 he has released three albums, sold over 3 million albums, achieved a staggering 14 platinum discs, enjoyed number one albums in nine countries.
To date he remains the most successful solo male X Factor winner.
To see Shayne on Sunday at HMV in Belfast all you have to do is grab a copy of Shayne’s album to get a wristband for the event.
