It’s the news that everyone’s been waiting for but kind of knew was coming anyway – filming is about to start on Game of Thrones series six.

There’s been no official announcement but an Instagram pic from actress Emilia Clarke stating she’d arrived in Belfast for a “certain read through” would suggest she’s here for business rather than a holiday.

Emilia, who plays Daenerys Targaryen, took a selfie along with co-star Nathalie Emmanuel who plays Missandiei upon arrival in Belfast.

All that remains is for Kit Harrington, who’s been spotted in the city, to confirm his presence by changing his status to say that he’s “depressed in Belfast” and fans of Jon Snow will rejoice.

There’s no news of actress Lena Headey who plays Cersei Lannister, but it’s pretty much a given that she’ll return after her walk of shame, perhaps to complete another walk of shame from the Fitzwilliam hotel to the Kebab House on the Donegall Road for a late night doner.

What I love about Game of Thrones is the rumour mill is nearly as fascinating as the show itself.

To that end, it’s understood a new local actor will be added to the show. He received the news just this week in a letter addressed to Your Man Henderson That Boy With The Glasses Who Is Doing The PhD Up There At Queen’s In Belfast. Apparently he’ll be joining the Night’s Watch.
