If you’re one of those people who describes the Eg as a student pub you go to when you can’t get into the Bot then you’re A) singing from the same hymnsheet as the vast majority of people in Belfast and B) a million miles off the mark.
Since reopening in February after a major revamp, the bar is the same in just about name only.
It’s now a meeting place for people of all ages, backgrounds and levels of food and drink intake.
That’s not to say students have been frozen out. You’ll get 20% discount on production of a student card and soon to return is the Eg’s famous shot ladder. Good times!
Fancy your own fridge just beside your table? And what about alcove by the window and a rocking chair for good measure? The Eg will soon be offering an enhanced experience so customers have all the perks of being in a bar without leaving their table.
All guns blazing!
The Eg have created a list of signature cocktails that both sound and taste amazing. No visit would be complete without facing a Mexican Firing Squad (pictured above). Their passion for mixology is evidenced by the fact they make their own syrups.
The weekly line-up in the Eg features live music on Wednesday from El Dude Brothers and live bands and singers every Friday night. Check the sign at the bar for details. It’s hard to miss!
There’s a DJ on the decks on Saturday nights while Tuesdays see the celebration of the Vinyl Club with Sleevface.
The Cinema Club takes place every Monday night and the bar also has a selection of board games for those of a playful nature. The retro Pac-man arcade game is worth a go!
