Songstress Amanda St John recently returned from America after collaborating with some of the music industry’s biggest names in Nashville.
Before Christmas Amanda headed off to Nashville after having been invited to work with a number of well known producers including the famous Benita Hill.
Benita, a recording artist herself, is best known for her songs made famous by country superstar Garth Brooks.
Garth recorded Benita’s songs Take The Keys To My Heart, Two Pina Coladas and It’s Your Song, two of which became number one singles in America.
During her trip Amanda also worked with Jon Tiven, a songwriter and producer who’s worked with artists such as the Rolling Stones, Wilson Pickett, BB KIng and Huey Lewis.
And now that she’s back from the music capital of the world Amanda is locked in the studio recording her new material for her forthcoming album, due out later this year.
She said: “I’ve always dreamed of working in Nashville. For me it’s somewhere I’ve always wanted to go as it’s the songwriting capital of the world.
“I had made a few contacts through The Belfast Nashville Festival and thought it was time to make the trip to get my name out there and take the opportunity to work with established songwriters. ”
Known for wearing her heart on her sleeve in recent releases such as the single If I Should Fall, Amanda says the only difference is that her new songs reflect a happier, more positive time in her life.
“I’m a very open person and have to write about what I know” she said, adding: “There are much happier songs this time around and a few about my perspective on life and learning from challenges that life throws at us.
“I’m now recording my debut album with my band Paul Tierney, Rabb Bennett and John Conway. Myself and Paul in particular are doing a lot of work on the music I returned with.”
