A new Italian eatery il Gusto Ristorante is due to open its doors on Wednesday September 28 at 423 Lisburn Road.

Located beside Eddie Rockets, the new 40-seater restaurant has been given a complete make-over and will specialise in offering healthy authentic Italian food options, which they hope will set it apart from other Italian eateries in Belfast.

They’ll be sourcing their food products from local suppliers where possible, ranging from homemade pasta and pizzas to fish and meat dishes.

It will be fully licensed, open seven days a week and is planning to offer both dine in and take out options. They also have a separate outside heated decking area.

Here’s a taste of what’s to come at il Gusto…

Ottavio inherited some traditional local (Italian) recipes from his grandmother and began a successful agri-tourism business after converting an old farmhouse and adjoining barn into a 150 seater farm style restaurant.

He has multiple Italian TV appearances to his name.

The man behind the new restaurant

The new venue is the result of entrepreneur Michael Karan, who also owns the successful Solo Restaurant + Bar, 11 Wellington Place and Ambrosia Caffé & Ristorante, Ormeau Road.

Drawing inspiration from his first Italian eatery – Ambrosia, the menu will be overseen by Ottavio Natali, from Budrio, Italy –  former head chef and creator of restaurant Podere Casino, Budrio.

Michael said: “We want to keep things fresh and healthy and make il Gusto the place to go for well executed, authentic Italian cuisine. The location on the Lisburn Road was a fantastic opportunity and one we just couldn’t say no to. The locals will notice some new, exciting dishes on the menu. We look forward to meeting more of the local community over the coming weeks.”
