This Friday (September 9), Pizza Express will serve up a double helping to customers in Belfast in the form of two brand new restaurants in the city centre and East Belfast.

St Anne’s Square

St Anne’s Square in the city’s bustling Cathedral Quarter will play home to the 118 seater restaurant, which will also offer an additional 40 seats outside in the Square.

Ballyhackamore

Ballyhackamore Village will be getting the Pizza Express treatment on the Upper Newtownards Road, with an interior that is inspired by local novelist, CS Lewis, who was born in Belfast and attended Campbell College, just around the corner.

As well as a dedicated literary wall dedicated to CS Lewis’ writing, there are also wardrobe doors on the walls; a nod to The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.

Alun Friswell, Operations Manager, Pizza Express commented: “We are excited to finally open the doors of our two new outlets in Belfast this Friday, 9th September.

“The new restaurants are quite different to our already well-established sites in the city, with the St Anne’s outlet taking a cool, contemporary city-feel and Ballyhackamore inspired by the locals and Belfast’s Shipyard legacy. What’s guaranteed is great, fresh pizza, pasta, salads and much more at both new restaurants, and all five throughout the city.”

Pizza Express now has five outlets in Northern Ireland, including three in Bedford Street, Lisburn Road, Victoria Square. They employ almost 200 staff in Northern Ireland and operate over 460 restaurants in total.

Recently, Zoe Bowley, Operations Director at Pizza Express visited the city to announce the expansion of the brand in Northern Ireland. She said: “Our ambition is to at least double the numbers of our eateries in Northern Ireland, with at least one more in Belfast and hopefully a further five in other major towns and cities across the country.”

Earlier in the year, Pizza Express announced its partnership with food courier Deliveroo. Zoe continued: “Our Deliveroo partnership is also expanding in Belfast, with local users able to order via the Deliveroo app or website for takeaway from any one of our five restaurants across the city.”
