While Edel Meade is not originally from Belfast – or in fact Northern Ireland – she’s a regular visitor to the city.

“I’m quite a good cook”

What would you do if you had the keys to the city for the day?
“Explore all the theatres and arts venues”

What’s the most interesting discovery you’ve made in Belfast?
“I came across a really cool street by accident on my way to the Europa train station. I don’t know what it’s called but I took a photo and stuck it on Instagram. It looked like somewhere in Cuba”

Which building would you most like to be locked in overnight?
“The Merchant Hotel penthouse suite”

Who is your celebrity crush?
“Definitely Tom Hardy”

Describe your perfect day in the city?
“Full body massage some place, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi. Art gallery and coffee in the afternoon. Dinner and live music at Teatro Cabaret restaurant in the evening time.”

What is your earliest memory of Belfast?
“I went to an Open Day at Queens University when I was in my Twenties and it remember thinking how all the buildings were so different to the buildings in Dublin.”

What movie most closely resembles your life story and why?
“Lady Sings The Blues starring Diana Ross, in some ways. My life can appear very glamorous- it’s certainly jam-packed with songs and music and gorgeous dresses but behind the scenes there is a LOT of very hard work.”

Berts Jazz Bar at The Merchant Hotel, Belfast will host a special live tribute to Billie Holiday, starring award-winning singer, composer and lyricist Edel Meade on Tuesday April 7 from 9pm.
