Hillsborough’s newest dining sensation has been attracting food and drink enthusiasts to an already popular venue in the village.
The Vintage Rooms at The Plough includes global inspirations made using local ingredients, everything from Korean-inspired kimchee to Italian pizzette and a cheeseboard packed with quality local cheeses.
The emphasis at this ‘speakeasy’ venue is on small plates paired with an extensive range of exclusive drinks.
One of our readers has the chance to get better acquainted with The Vintage Rooms, as they’re giving away a unique prize to celebrate the 2016 Hillsborough International Oyster Festival.
The winner of the competition will receive a range of drinks from its highly popular whiskey cellar, wine & spirit library, and cocktail bar as well as a selection of small plates to share and two tickets to The Plough’s Auntie’s Social Club, on Saturday September 3 from 9pm.
This year’s line-up includes DJs Terri Hooley and Alister Beverley and entertainment from house band The Hallions including Gerry Norman of A Plastic Rose, Aidy Dunlop from Nasa Assassin, Snow Patrol’s Nathan Connolly, and Rab Bennett of Co.Uk along with a special guest appearance by Jay McConnell of The Voice and Auntie’s own MC Stevie McCann.
Marking an investment of £500,000 and the creation of 15 new full and part-time roles, The Vintage Rooms will serve as the only lounge bar experience in Hillsborough.
Situated at the former Bar Retro site, The Vintage Rooms have added another unique offering from the Patterson family who have continued to evolve their business over the years to include the popular Plough Inn which also includes The Bistro and Simply Seafood; The Pheasant, Annahilt, and The Tannery, Moira as part of their portfolio.
Derek Patterson, who co-owns the Plough Group with his brothers William and Richard, explained the theory behind the new venture: “The Vintage Rooms provide a one stop shop for a great night out and we envisage it to be a real social hub for Hillsborough. Key features include a Spirit & Wine Library and Whiskey Cellar which will showcase the global offering of wines, spirits and cocktails on offer for all tastes to enjoy in an intimate setting. Adding to the uniqueness of the new bar, customers also have the option to buy their drinks by-the-bottle, and are provided with an exclusive locker to stow their personally labelled spirits until their next visit.”
The focus of The Vintage Rooms won’t be all about the drinks offering, however. The new bar and restaurant in addition to offering a sit-down lunchtime deli and evening small plates offering, with a takeaway option for customers to enjoy the famous high-quality and innovative dishes from The Plough Group on-the-go.
