Meet new alternative folk band Darren Hill & The Poison Oaks from Belfast.
Frontman Darren Hill is launching his solo EP titled Hand Of A Wolf on August 13.
Hand Of A Wolf contains six tracks that spout chilled vibes and charming lyrics that say it how it is. Darren Hill revealed: “There’s a reoccurring theme of nature through the lyrics and the song titles.”
Stand out song, Howling Into The Wind, has creepy undertones and switches between a range of melodies in less than three minutes, taking you on a lengthy journey.
Closing the EP, the title track follows a sturdy beat to a fast-paced peak which will leave you waiting eagerly for a release from the newly formed band.
Darren said: “The whole EP is self-produced so the albums like Nebraska by Springsteen and I Hate My Friends by The Front Bottoms are a real inspiration for doing that and I listen to a lot of punk bands which is where the kinda DIY ethic comes from.”
Darren Hill is launching his solo EP at McHugh’s basement on the day of its release.
Tickets are £5 and can be bought here.
