Belfast band Altus are among the first bands to be announced for the forthcoming Monsters of Rot metal-fest.
The festival has been one of the country’s best kept metal secrets. The one-day fest of extreme metal is held in the farthest corner of Northern Ireland – Letterbreen, County Fermanagh on Saturday August 1.
Now in its fifth incarnation the first eight bands to appear this year have been confirmed.
The annual celebration is all that is best about the extreme metal scene on the island of Ireland – and beyond.
Altus Guitarist Michael Legge said: “We’ve just about had time to reload our guns after the Siege Of Limerick. Now we’re looking forward to our next festival appearance – at the bone-shatteringly brutal Monsters Of Rot.
“It’s a huge deal for us to be playing MoR and it’s one that’s been on our hit-list for some time. There will be shredding!”
The first eight bands announced for the main PlanetMosh Stage are:
Belfast metal crew and Bloodstock Metal 2 The Masses semi-finalists
2. Abaddon Incarnate
Dublin grindcore merchants
UK black metallers
4. Attack The Day
Limavady hardcord protagonists
Dublin death metal gurus
7. Job Seekers
More bands will be announced over the coming weeks, as will details of the event’s second stage.
A special return bus service will operate from Belfast to Letterbreen, via Portadown.
Tickets are £15/€18, including camping and available soon from www.monstersofrot.com. For more check out https://www.facebook.com/events/663751490413618/
