Not that we think you will need much convincing but there are a ton of reasons why you should get yourself some tickets for MCM Belfast Comic Con on Saturday May 2 and Sunday May 3.
As the biggest modern pop culture event in the UK last year the Belfast event at the King’s Hall was attended by over 16,000 comic book fans, gamers and science fiction fanatics.
2014’s expo welcomed stars such as Red Dwarf actors Chris Barrie, Robert Llewellyn and Hattie Hayridge as well as S Club 7 star, Hannah Spearritt (Primeval), James Cosmo (Game Of Thrones, Highlander, Braveheart and The Chronicles of Narnia), Once Upon A Time’s Raphael Sbarge, Dr Who star Ian McNeice and Richard Herd (Star Trek: Voyager, Quantum Leap, NYPD Blue & The A-Team).
Here are 12 good reasons to go along to this year’s event:
1. Sex Appeal
Katrina Law is one of the stars of hit CW superhero series Arrow, she plays Nyssa al Ghul, daughter of infamous League of Assassins leader Ra’s al Ghul. Katrina will be meeting fans and signing autographs on both days.
Philadelphia-born Katrina’s other screen credits include Spartacus, CSI: Miami, Legend of the Seeker, The Resistance, Shosen and Chuck.
2. Cult Hunk
Primeval star Andrew Lee Potts will be meeting fans and signing autographs on both days.
Andrew is best known for his role as the quirky Connor Temple on five seasons of hit sci-fi show Primeval, a role he reprised in spin-off series Primeval: New World.
Andrew has also appeared in TV shows such as BBC black comedy Ideal, Anglo-American horror series Dracula, Band of Brothers, Midsomer Murders, The Mill, Doc Martin, Alice and crime drama By Any Means.
3. Super Style
Red Dwarf actor Danny John-Jules will be appearing on Saturday.
Best known for starring in all ten series of the sci-fi sitcom, Danny is a firm fan favourite for his inimitable portrayal of the super-stylish Cat – as well as his geeky alter ego Duane Dibbley.
Vastly vain, massively egocentric and a dedicated follower of fashion, the sharp-dressed Cat is the über cool epitome of kitty kind.
4. A Noble Choice
John Noble, best known for his starring roles in Sleepy Hollow (Henry Parrish), Fringe (Dr Walter Bishop) and Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King (Denethor) will be appearing on both days.
The Australian film and TV has also appeared in other cult productions such as 24, The Last Airbender and Superman: Unbound.
5. A Royal Voice
Adventure Time star Hynden Walch, who plays Princess Bubblegum on the smash hit Cartoon Network show will be appearing at this year’s show.
As well as starring as Adventure Times’ pink-themed, scientifically-inclined princess, top voice actor Hynden Walch’s cartoon credits include Starfire in Teen Titans and Teen Titans Go!, Harley Quinn in The Batman and Batman: Assault on Arkham, and Princess Python in Avengers Assemble.
Hynden in Isao Takahata’s recent anime movie The Tale Of The Princess Kaguya and she’s also the voice of Nia in acclaimed studio Gainax series Gurren Lagann, Yutaka in Lucky Star and Emiri Kimidori in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.
6. TV’s Favourite Couple
EastEnders stars Shane Richie and Jessie Wallace are best known for playing on-screen husband and wife Alfie and Kat in the long-running BBC soap.
A loveable rogue, ex-landlord of The Vic Alfie Moon can talk his way out of (or into) any number of sticky situations.
Kat Moon – formerly Slater – has long been Walford’s leading femme fatale, catching the eye of many an eligible bachelor, not to mention the occasional straying husband.
Shane and Jessie’s characters are currently at the heart of one of EastEnders’ most heart-wrenching storylines.
7. Fight To Death
The BBC smash hit show Robot Wars will be bringing live robot battles throughout the weekend with full commentary following the robots “fight to death”.
Experience the excitement of the Robots fighting live as the robots battle it out to become the winner. This event includes live commentary.
8. In Character
Both days will end with the popular Cosplay Masquerade competition in which attendees will have spent months making and sourcing their costumes.
Characters this year will include Lady Loki, Pyramid Head from Silent Hill, Green Arrow, characters from Game Of Thrones, Joker, Batman, Spiderman and many more.
9. Comics Galore
If you’re a comic creator, comic artist, comic writer or a fan then the Comic Village is the place for you during the Belfast Comic Con.
The village brings together comic creators of all styles, mediums and levels in one equal space and promote the good word of sequential art.
10. Shopping Spree
There will be a chance to buy the very best from the worlds of Movies, Anime, Manga, TV, Comics, Trading Cards, Actions Figures and the list goes on.
The show will bring together the UK’s top dealers offering merchandise from both the UK and abroad.
11. A Cut Above
The Sword Stall will be appearing at the show. They will be bringing a large selection of items from Film & Television to Anime and Gaming. The stall will also have an exciting new exclusive product line.
Items include a range of The Expendables knives such as Jason Statham’s throwing knives. They have also had commissioned The Demon Killing Knife from Supernatural and Bellatrix’s knife from Harry Potter exclusively for The Sword Stall in Belfast. From Anime products include the Kill la Kill scissor swords, two UK legal and exclusive Gun Blades and of course the biggest range of Anime katana’s on the UK Circuit.
12. World Class
