Take a May Day bank holiday, add a Filthy Square, 2manydjs and a hot sexy music act and already you’ve a cocktail of madness worth trying.

In association with promoters MOTH The Filthy Series festival will take place at Filthy McNastys and the Secret Garden’s Filthy Square, Dublin Road.

The festival is mixing together a whole host of music genres to bring the city one of the most eclectic events this year.

And if you’re still not convinced here’s 9 good reasons why you should grab your tickets to one of the hottest shows in town:

1. Sexy Singer On A Mission

In 2010 Katy B shot to fame with her debut single On A Mission through Rinse records which contributed to her nomination for a Mercury Music Prize the following year.

For those who aren’t familiar with her Katy B is best known as a dubstep, R&B, funky, house and UK garage artist whose most recent release Still from her 2014 album Little Red has clocked up nearly 2 million views on YouTube.

2. The Mighty Jungle

Jungle are like a secret club where only those who know are in the know. Information is scarce but our belfastvibe secret squirrel finally found some info.

Based around a core musical duo of lifelong friends known simply as J and T, who can expand to up to a thrilling seven piece live their music is described as modern soul with a global appeal. Jungle will be appearing at the festival with their unique DJ set.

3. Outside The Box

Undoubtedly one of the most respected solo beatboxers of all time, Reeps One has notched up multi-million views on YouTube with an unbelievable control of his own vocal ability.

He seriously has to be seen to be believed and it’s no wonder he has world class beatbox battle rankings when you hear his cutting-edge technical strength and vocal dexterity.

4. All Rapped Up

Too Many Ts – Leon Rhymes and Ross Standaloft (clearly the names their mother’s gave them) emerged in May 2013 with their debut EP and since have gone on to clock up tens of thousands of YouTube hits including the smash Boom Bap.

According to their fans the duo have a “distinct fragrance of the golden era of Hip Hop”.

5. Too Many Is Never Too Much

If you’re going to see Too Many DJs then expect everything from prog-rock and funky r&b to trendy hiptrop and banging German techno.

This project from Belgian groove-gurus Soulwax are best known for their record Much Against Everyone’s Advice.

6. In Love With The Gods

Best known for their hit single Blind Hercules and Love Affair are a dance music project created by American DJ Andy Butler in 2008. Consisting of a rotating cast of performers and musicians, the band work within the genres of house music, disco, and nu-disco.

7. Keeping It Local

Formed in Jan 2012 by Martin Corrigan and Nick Todd local act Skymas came together around a love of Fela Kuti, Can, Pil and New Order.

8. More To Come

In association with local promoter MOTH this is just Chapter 1 of a whole host of summer festival events from the Filthy crowd.

9. Bargain

At £30 for 8 fantastic acts over 2 days in an amazing space this has to be one of the city’s biggest growing boutique festival. And with tickets limited it’s advisable to get them before next weekend.
