During Freshers Fortnight students can get ahead of the action with a £25 wristband from Ulster University Students Union. The wristband gets you free entry into five venues including El Divino, Chinawhite and Filthy McNasty’s as well as the Freshers Pool Party at Lisburn Indoor Waterpark on Wednesday, September 23.

You’ll also get discount food in Wagamamas, Slims Healthy Kitchen, Yogland, Chip Co, Pizza Co and Slums Indian as well as 20% off at Victoria Square on Tuesday, September 22. You can still attend all the Fresher events even if you don’t want to buy the wristband (apart from the pool party) and there are also a number of free events.

The Big Fact Hunt Freshers Edition takes the place of the regular Monday night quiz in Cuckoo on Monday, September 21. It features £2.50 drinks promos & £3 slushies. It starts at 9.30pm, it’s £1 entry and is hosted by DJ Craig Parry. The top prize is a full size Fussball table.

Student quiz

Another of the highlights of Freshers Fortnight is the charity pub crawl organised by Queen’s Student Union on Tuesday September 22. Get on the crawl by buying your official RAG Pub Crawl T-shirt from the RAG team at Elms Village during welcome weekend. For more info, visit RAG’s website. The crawl starts at 7pm.

Then, if you’re still standing come 9pm you can join quizmaster Emma-Rose for a night of big prizes, big questions and big answers at The Speakeasy. There’s £100 up for grabs plus lots of extra goodies to give away.

Two of Belfast’s most popular venues are also getting into the Freshers spirit.

Student fair

Filthy McNasty’s will be hosting a funfair from September 21-24. £5 gets you unlimited rides, a Kopparberg & entry to The Gypsy Lounge club.

Meanwhile The Limelight will be hosting The Ultimate Student Day Out on Wednesday September 23 from 12pm-6pm.
