Jo Donnelly is undertaking the role of Rumpelstiltskin in the MAC’s Christmas production of the fairy-tale.
Here’s some information that you probably didn’t know about her…
Tell us something your mum doesn’t know about you?
To be honest, my mum knows everything about me. We have a very close relationship and I literally phone her three to five times a day.
What would you do if you had the keys to the city for the day?
I would let myself into office of the Minister for Culture, Arts and Leisure’s and take it over for the day. I am extremely passionate about the Arts.
What’s the most interesting discovery you’ve made in Belfast?
The Circus School is a real gem. I took part in the show ‘Lanciatore’ with Rawlife Theatre. The people behind the school are fantastic and so enthusiastic. More people need to know about them and get involved.
Which building would you most like to be locked in overnight?
As an avid reader, it would have to be Central Library. I would be in my element. I would happily spend the hours browsing through all the books and nestling down on a sofa, with a book in one hand and a cuppa in the other. You are more likely to find me in the poetry section, in particular.

Describe your perfect day in the city?
My perfect day would start with a stroll up Black Mountain with my partner Marty Maguire and our two Yorkshire terriers, Murphy and Mable. Followed by a lazy afternoon sitting in the garden, no matter the weather. I would then meet up with the girls for dinner at Stix and Stones for the best steak in town! Ending with a few cocktails to toast a great day.
Earliest Belfast memory?
My earliest memory is joining the Rainbow Factory and meeting Sylvain Baker. This was a great time in my life and I made some wonderful friends – many of whom I still count as friends.
Most memorable event you’ve ever attended in Belfast?
This would have to be the first ever Belfast Arts Festival – it just blew me away.
What movie most closely resembles your life story and why?
Beethoven 2 – my life revolves around happy dogs. Despite every mishap – there are plenty of fun times, cuddles and laughs to make up for it.
Three people you’d like invite to your ultimate dinner party?
Les Dawson and the two Brothers Grimm.
