Imagine being able to host a dinner party in one those showroom kitchens we gaze longingly at in IKEA, the only drawback with this opportunity is the kitchen stays in IKEA when the party’s over.
IKEA are running a competition to allow one of their customers the chance to host a dinner party for 10 people in one of the store showroom kitchen / dining areas.
The Dining Club by IKEA Belfast will see local diners under the expert supervision of an IKEA chef, working together to cook up some delicious dishes, followed by a relaxing sit-down meal in the store itself.
To enter the competition, shoppers need to fill out an entry form that can be found in-store on Saturday and Sunday, September 10 and 11 during the IKEA Home Furnishing Festival, a seasonal festival taking place at stores nationwide that celebrates all things kitchens, cooking and eating.
IKEA Belfast, store manager Christie Gregg, explained: “At IKEA, we know that the Wonderful Everyday has people cooking and eating together at the heart of it, which is why we want to give our shoppers the chance to enjoy this unique foodie experience with their family and friends. The Dining Club will be a space where cooking together is celebrated and eating together is inspirational.”
The competition was designed to highlight the importance of families cooking and eating meals together at home. The insight behind the competition came from an IKEA study into life at home, which proved that the number of people eating together with their families is shrinking. Not only this but it showed that we have less time and space than ever for taste experiences in our homes, despite the fact that taste stimulates a number of positive feelings, including intimacy, familiarity and belonging.
