It’s the ‘Five Minute Rule’ when you are a mum: after running around everyone else, you only have five minutes to do your makeup and attempt to make yourself look socially acceptable for the day.
And it’s not just mums who find themselves in a race against time to get their faces on.
CAROLINE DAVIS of BEAU EDIT gives her guide to fail safe products and techniques that she have developed and relied on through her years of Mama-hood…
1. Bourjois City Radiance Foundation
Using your fingers start from the center of the face, pat and blend out. This foundation has the necessary amount of ‘Mum coverage. Ignore your foundation brush, you have no time for this.
2. Clinique Correct and Conceal
Sweep over lids and under eyes and pat in with fingers. This under eye concealer has just the right amount of coverage and light reflective qualities to waken that eye area.
3. NYC Brow Palette
Using a angled brow brush add definition to the brows, start your focus at the arch of the brow and gently stroke through the hairs to even out brows to the ends.
4. Bourjois Paris Pot Rouge in 34 Rose D’or
An ABSOLUTE classic. The right measure of pink to make any complexion look awake. It also has a hint of shimmer to add a subtle glow to the cheek area.
5. Maxfactor Masterpiece Mascara
This mascara gives definition from root to tip. Wiggle at the root to give the eye some extra definition. The small wand makes it super user friendly and fans lashes without clumping.
6. Bourjois Paris Colour Boost Lip Crayon
Chub sticks and lip crayons are becoming more and more of a beauty staple. They are convenient, easy to use and it takes little to no skill to make a pretty application. Personal favorite is Barely There by Bourjois.
All these products are widely available, relatively inexpensive, small and convenient to carry around. What else could we ask for? (apart from a holiday and an extra couple of million in the bank).
