Who said wearing glasses could hold you back on creating the perfect smoky eye?
Well, thankfully it doesn’t, and to celebrate the launch of Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition for 2016, we have some top tips from celebrity makeup artist Armand Beasly for ladies who want to keep their eye makeup in the frame!
1. Choose a frame to complement your skin tone: “Personally, I think it’s not what you wear; it’s how you wear it, so you can really have fun with colours. If you have more red tones in your skin, then avoid red or orange frames, and perhaps try green as this is the colour to neutralise red.”
2. If you prefer bright make up, choose frames that work with it: “A 50s style tortoise shell frame looks fantastic with matte red lipstick. Try either Sisley Ruby liner all over the lip for a slight orange undertone lip, or MAC Redd liner for more of a blue undertone.”
3. Avoid getting red marks where glasses sit on your nose: “Avoid using anything that generates more oil, like eye creams – substitute these for an eye gel in the daytime. Also try to avoid applying too much foundation around the eye.”
4. Don’t go OTT with smoky eyes under glasses: “Switch to shades of grey rather than black. Use primer like Urban Decay Eye Potion prior to shadows to keep them in place and avoid mistakes.”
