WORDS by FAITH-NICOLE THOMPSON
Rehearsals are up and running and going brilliantly!
Day one was hectic, as you would expect. You could smell the excitement, but also the fear – the fear of performing in The SSE Arena, Belfast.
We were all given a grand tour around the stage area and backstage, as well as told about a secret flap from under the stage which we named it ‘The Cat flap’. Now everyone keeps talking about it saying – “I want to come out from underneath there!” and “This is so cool!”
Then we were brought onto the stage. I had butterflies ‘of the thought, of the thought, of the thought’ of performing on the stage in front of two thousand people.
We sang and danced our socks off on day one and completed our opening number, thanks to the hard work of our Choreographers, Musical Directors, co Director and Director. This is a big number and everyone has to be aware of their surroundings, especially the Cats because the kittens are all so small and cute – we could easily bump into them! However, the kittens are remaining very professional and – MEOWTASTIC !
The deeper we go into rehearsals the more we will start to see the musical slot together like a jigsaw, every little section fits perfectly. I think everything is coming on tremendously even though it’s only a couple of rehearsal days in.
I am thrilled to mention that the international tour of ‘Cats’ has made us a video saying good luck. How amazing is that? We have so many people supporting us throughout. The biggest supporters are our families as they are one of the reasons why we have all been given this opportunity, an opportunity of a life time!
Not long now until the August 6…
