Ok, look…I’m not going to lie.  I haven’t the first notion about the Circuit of Ireland Rally.

Honestly, I don’t. But for you, that’s a good thing.

Why? Because I’m going to assume you don’t know anything either…and together – we’re going to discover the Circuit of Ireland Rally.

INCI-CircuitOfIrelandRallyToday things kicked off in style for practice before the opening ceremony at Belfast City Hall where Britains Got Talent star Innova performed as over 50 competitors assembled at the starting ramp.

The Discover Northern Ireland Circuit of Ireland Rally is one of 10 tallie is the FIA European Championship Calendar and is the only round which will be based in the UK or Ireland.

In short, with over 14 million viewers expected to watch the rally on Eurosport – its a big deal.

Running until Saturday April 4 the rally will see 600 volunteers and has been running since 1931.

This year there are 140 cars entered and manufacturers being represented include Peugeot, Ford, Skoda, Citroen and Renault.

Just like many other sports its “seeded” which means drivers are placed in a league table with our very own drivers being well represented in the higher echelons of the sport.

Drivers such as Alistair Fisher (seeded #5) from Fermanagh, Marty McCormack (seeded 11) from Draperstown and Jonathan Greer (seeded #15) from Belfast will take to the road alongside international stars such as Craig Breen (seeded #1) from Waterford, Kajetan Kajetanowicz (seeded #2) from Poland and Robert Consani (seeded #3) from France.

Also taking to the road will be famous drivers such as Hollywood star Idris Elba, country singer Nathan Carter and Russian glamour model Inessa Tushkanova.
