For all of you last minute shoppers, we’ve got gift ideas and stocking fillers sorted with this concentrated guide on which shops to hit in the city centre.
In a further bid to aid your productivity and get you sipping pints at the beer tent at the Christmas Market in record breaking time, we’ve even given you helpful guides as to which shops are ideal for who.
We went for slightly less high profile chain stores and independent boutiques where possible – as well as one of the greatest latest additions to our high street. Not only does this limit the chances of your other half/ mother-in-law/ dad/ granny already having them, but it also adds that extra special personal touch.
With this in mind, here’s our:
Top picks for blasting Christmas shopping in the city centre…
41 Arthur St
Ideal For: In-laws and stocking fillers.
Avoca is hamper heaven. Ideal for buying for the in-laws, or simply splurging on your own Christmas dessert.
Rather than spending above the odds for a shop to make them up for you, making a hamper yourself is much more cost effective. It means you are not limited to one shop, meaning you can spread the cost of items, treating your favourite people with more luxurious options like the delicious Avoca cakes, spreads and traybakes, as well as spreading the cost to less extravagant items. This helps add a far more personal (and appetising) touch.
Simply wrap up a simple cardboard box in wrapping paper, and get stock piling your festive treats. Meanwhile Avoca’s mini hampers of fancy jams, biscuits and tubs of delightful treats are great presents all on their own.
9 William St S
Ideal For: Anyone who loves chocolate.
Another ideal haven for those in search of thoughtful stocking fillers.
Needless to say, the chocolate Santas, salted caramel truffles and crunchy melt in the mouth pralines will put a smile on every shopaholic’s face this Christmas.
The bars and packs of chocolate treats are great stocking fillers, and are priced competitively at £3.15 each when you buy three or more.
Meanwhile, the beautifully presented boxes of chocolates would go down a treat with her and provide the right amount of romance this Christmas.
22 Castle Lane
Ideal For: Him, her – basically everyone.
We’re loving the new addition to Belfast’s city centre in the form of the wonderfully eclectic Danish retailer Tiger.
The colourful, diverse product range is sure to make for exciting gift unwrapping on Christmas morning. And with their incredibly affordable prices, we recommend paying it a visit.
Indulge your ‘better’ half’s passion for playing dress-up, encourage their love of baking (which is a present in itself for you), or enthusiasm for art with the millions of particularly unique selection of quality homewares, office products and personal goods.
We’re particularly loving the remote controlled cars and helicopters which make great gifts on their own. Whilst the dazzling array of colourful candles are sure to appease our generation’s apparent addiction to candles. And it’s far cheaper than Yankee Candle’s Cookie & Cream, too.
Fountain Centre, College St
Ideal For: In-laws, Christmas parties and parents
Home to an Aladdin’s cave of divine Pâté, cheese, chutneys, biscuits and teas from across the world, Sawers is another place unparalleled for excellent Christmas hampers. You can make up your own instore!
With its wide range of local Northern Ireland products on offer, as well as amazing tastes from around the world, this is a no-brainer for your Christmas party food, too.
12-17 Castle Ln
Ideal For: Her, stocking fillers, mother-in-law
Just walking into the cloud of perfumed air that is this heavenly shop makes you want to bulk buy all of the famous bath bombs, jelly and lotions and potions
When you are done treating yourself though, the amazing pre-made up gifts are gorgeously wrapped and will definitely provide some added joy with the beautiful presentation.
6. Studio Souk
27 Castle Lane
Ideal For: Him, her, parents, in-laws.
With its massive collection of quirky, wonderfully upcycled treasures, artisan crafts, unique fashion designs and amazing local art – when we went here last week we found it was a struggle not to buy everything for everyone – rather than struggling to find anything for anyone.
We particularly love the handmade vibrant satchels which have become something of a fashion trend (and currently half price!), and the art upstairs all from local artists.
Whilst the local artisan food is great for hampers and stocking fillers, the framed pictures upstairs also make beautiful, thoughtful gifts. Also check out the candles, jewellery and cushions.
Definitely worth a visit. Just check out the gallery for proof.
