Bubbly Bar – Northern Ireland’s first mobile Champagne & Prosecco Bar – has finally arrived.

A huge business in England, local brides-to-be lusting after something a little bit different for their reception may have discovered a distinct lack of portable champagne bars to help entertain their wedding guests.

That’s how innovative future bride, Alex Megarry, came up with her exciting new business venture.

Alex, who hails from Antrim, found that there was simply nothing like the Bubbly Bar in Northern Ireland while planning her own big day.

She told the Irish News: “What really gave me the idea though was a visit with my mum to the Burghley Horse Trials in Lincolnshire last year when I came across a mobile champagne bar and thought it was a fantastic idea.

“They are very popular in England, but Northern Ireland didn’t have any, so the idea of having my own champagne bar was suddenly very appealing.

“I had the name I wanted in my head and when I found out it wasn’t registered and the web domain hadn’t been purchased, I thought it must be destiny.”

Pimp My Prosecco

Prosecco lover Alex, who has worked as communications manager for Phoenix Gas for three years, is taking on the new venture to coincide with married life. Originally from Broughshane, Alex is set to move to Limavady where her husband-to-be is a farmer.

The mobile trailer, which was made bespoke in England, is a high gloss black with copper and Alex hopes it will stand out from the crowd.

As well as selling proescco and champagne, there is also a Pimp your Prosecco stand with fresh fruit and puree to add to your bubbles. Alex added:

“The brand is bubbles – it’s not a chip van wagon, after all – so that’s what it will be, although I have added a little side section called ‘Pimp your Proscecco’ where people can add a raspberry, strawberry or peach or pomegranate puree to make their own champagne cocktail.

“I have already done one engagement party which was brilliant fun. Even the usual beer drinkers loved the bubbles, which was great.”

Whilst weddings are Alex’s target market, The Bubbly Bar (which boasts the highest possible Food Hygiene Rating) is also set to pitch up at private parties, christenings, festivals and outdoor events.

Clients can provide their own bubbles or ask Alex to serve bubbles from the venue.
