Fabulous and fashionable 29-year-old Rebecca McKinney, who presents the Cool FM Breakfast show with co-hosts Pete Snodden and Paulo Ross, sat down to our My Belfast challenge…
Where my family is – always!
Tell us something your mum doesn’t know about you?
My mum pretty much knows everything about me, well apart from the fact that I own more shoes than she is aware of – but the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree!
What would you do if you had the keys to the city for the day?
It would be sunny, of course, so I would throw a giant party in the park and get Snow Patrol to play an impromptu gig for everyone. Music, sunshine, food and drink – the things Belfast does best (well, apart from the sun!).
What’s the most interesting discovery you’ve made in Belfast?
J-Bird Bakery cupcakes. By far the best sweet tooth find. They get me through everything from friends’ birthday parties to days when you just need to treat yourself.
Which building would you most like to be locked in overnight?
Zara on Royal Avenue. Think of all the outfits you could try on while you were there?!
Olly Murs, but anyone who listens to the Cool FM breakfast show knows that. I may slightly stalk him on Instagram!
Describe your perfect day in the city?
Breakfast on Cool FM with the boys (Pete Snodden and Paulo Ross) followed by a bouncy blow dry with Denise in Michele International. Then a lazy lunch and cocktails in The Merchant Hotel finished off with shopping in Victoria Square.
Earliest Belfast memory?
Mum driving my brother and me past Belfast City Hall at night to see the Christmas lights.
We were in our pyjamas and it was so exciting. I thought Belfast looked like Disneyland!
What movie most closely resembles your life story and why?
‘13 Going on 30’ – I will hit the big 3-0 in September, so my aim this year is to embrace the moment.
Sum up Belfast in three words?
Vibrant, varied and beautiful.
