If you’ve any leftover chocolate coins from Christmas, Newry is the place to go.
The rush to spend funny money in the border town comes after a local trader has been tricked into accepted a €100 note from a children’s playset.
The note, subtly branded with the Early Learning Centre logo, has left a Newry trader around £70 out of pocket.
The fake note was handed over at the takeaway, reportedly to pay for a sandwich. You’d have thought the trader would have more Cents.
Via their Facebook page, police in Newry and Mourne have shared the image and story to warn others to be more diligent.
