Former University of Ulster student Niall Brady has gone viral, after attempting to throw a spoon into a mug for almost a year.
He uploaded ‘The Spoon Chronicles’ to social media earlier this week, and it now has over one million views.
Over the course of 10 months, Niall attempted to throw a spoon into a mug behind him in his kitchen, documenting each attempt on Snapchat. He finally completed the goal back in March, uploading ‘The Spoon Chronicles’ to Facebook.
The video was uploaded to YouTube last week. After it was featured on Reddit, it became an overnight sensation, reaching almost 600,000 views in 24 hours.
Since then, the video has been watched over one million times via YouTube, and was shared by Good Morning America via Facebook and featured by Daily Mail Online.
Over the course of the year-long endeavour, Niall shows off his impressive T-shirt collection, hilarious reactions, and one Star Wars surprise appearance.
On the success of the video, Niall said: “Really wasn’t expecting it to take off the way it did. It had a bit of a following on Snapchat before it was done but I thought that was just because people knew me. Didn’t realise people were so immersed in my inability to throw a spoon in a mug.”
Niall is a former UU student, and member of the Newry-based band, Replica, who supported the Dublin based band, Keywest, in Mandela Hall last year.
On his plans for a second viral video, Niall’s got a few hopeful challenges: “I have a load of strange videos I’ve saved off Snapchat. The last one being a compilation of me wrecking my brothers head, over the course of seven months. Kinda started a slipper flipping challenge on Snapchat too. It’s not panning out so good though.”
We hope for a return soon!
