Belfast’s Christmas shoppers were treated to a series of festive flash mobs across the city centre on Saturday with some members of the public turning into singers, right in front of their eyes.
Battling through the crowds, their fellow shoppers soon turned into singing sensations as Peter Corry led a cast of 30 singers into a medley of songs that will be performed in his upcoming Christmas show, The Music Box, sponsored by SPAR, which takes place at Belfast Waterfront from December 17-19.
Many shoppers took a few minutes to listen to the renditions of the seasonal songs that were performed in St George’s Market and Castle Court. Festive favourites Gaudeté and Chris de Burgh’s A Spaceman Came Travelling were performed before the singers blended back into the crowd and the shoppers went about their days.
Peter Corry said: “It was all about spreading some Christmas cheer throughout the city, and judging by the crowds’ reactions, we certainly did just that. It was a taster of our brand new production, The Music Box, which returns to the Belfast Waterfront from 17 – 19 December. We hope everybody enjoyed it!”
Tickets for The Music Box, sponsored by SPAR Northern Ireland, are available now from Ulster Hall and Belfast Waterfront box offices.
