Swathes of Northern Ireland will take on a pink hue when the legacy project of last year’s Giro d’Italia Big Start takes place next weekend (June 19-21).
The Gran Fondo will see riders, including Team Sky’s Richie Porte, take to the roads of Belfast, Strangford and Mourne on the morning of Sunday June 21. Prior to the race there will be a Giro Expo at Titanic Belfast on the Saturday and a VIP event to launch the race on the Friday.
There will be two routes for the Gran Fondo Northern Ireland 2015 on Sunday June 21 between 7am and 4pm which will mean the closure of some roads. Both routes start and finish at Titanic Belfast.

Stephen Roche who won the 1987 Giro d’Italia riding for the Italian Carrera team, is the ambassador for Gran Fondo.
An event on a par with the Giro d’Italia has been promised.
Organisers said: “We have great plans in place and our ambition for this event is to make it one of the iconic sportives in the world. Everything is aimed at creating an authentic Giro d’Italia experience, including fully closed roads.
