A group of international students are set to take Belfast City Centre by storm as part of a Europe wide awareness event.
15 flash mobs across Europe are set to descend on cities to grab the attention of the public.
On Saturday May 9, which is Europe Day, students will appear at Corn Market at 2pm for one of the biggest flash mobs the city has seen.
Madeline Blackburn of European Student Placement Agency Ltd said the event was to primarily to “bring people’s attention to the huge benefits brought to young people at the start of their careers if they experience a work placement in a foreign country” she said.
The event will also highlight the work of Intern Europe whose research project Mobility for Growth, Autonomy and Employability is part of a 18-country study looking at the effects international work experience has had on participants’ personal and professional lives anything up to 10 years after the experience took place.
Madeline added: “The research is showing that participants create amazing international networks, improve their skills and employability as well as fostering higher self esteem and greater self-confidence.
“The really interesting perspective from a Belfast point of view is how many young people come to the city for their work experience and fall in love with Northern Ireland and Belfast itself.
“We want to promote the notion to students and apprentices of Northern Ireland that they too can take the opportunity of receiving grants from the EU to fund an international work placement in a partner European country.”
The flash mob has been designed and organised by a group of international young interns and employees who all have their own stories about coming to Belfast.
The participants come from Italy, France, Germany, Austria, Spain and throughout Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Guido Macaluso from Intern Europe said the group are hoping to get the general public involved with the event.
He added: “We would love the general public to come to watch and support the flash mob. Come on down and get involved.”
The Intern Europe flash mob celebrating Europe Day will take place on Saturday, May 9 in Corn Market at 2pm.
