The rebranded SSE Arena reopened this week, and while it’s still instantly recognisable as the former Odyssey we’ve known and loved for 15 years, there’s also been some significant and exciting changes.
Here are 8 reasons to pay the SSE Arena a visit sooner rather than later…
1. New seats
The arena has had all 9000 seats replaced. Trust us on this one, they are so much comfier.
2. Digital screens
Guests will see more than 180 Digital Screens in and around the Arena displaying information about upcoming events and related news. They’ll be streaming Belfast Giants games while the matches are in progress in case you need to nip to the loo, but they won’t show concert footage, so you’ll just have to cross your legs!
3. High speed WIFI
All visitors to the SSE Arena will have access to high-speed wireless broadband. All the better for tweeting your concert selfies.
4. Customer rewards
There’s a brand new SSE Reward Lounge for SSE Airtricity customers, who will also be able to book tickets 48 hours before everyone else. Time to think about switching providers?
5. No more queues
With the new phone app you can pre-order your drinks and snacks from the bar without leaving your seat. Could this be the end of the beer tailbacks? We really hope so.
6. Celebrating sport
The SSE Arena in Belfast is set to host BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards in December.
7. Busy, busy, busy
The SSE Arena Belfast is on course for its busiest year ever, with more than 150 live entertainment events scheduled to be staged at the arena in the year ahead. Upcoming highlights include One Direction, Florence & The Machine, Kevin Bridges and Michael McIntyre. Not forgetting every Belfast Giants home game.
8. Happy family
The arena is in good company having joined the UK-wide stable of SSE entertainment venues including The SSE Hydro in Glasgow and The SSE Arena Wembley.
