Breakfast is in the spotlight this January.

From our favourite fries, pancake stacks with maple syrup and bacon, to sodas jam-packed with mouth-watering delights – we’re celebrating the year of Food and Drink’s dedication to breakfast this month with Our 7 Favourite Breakfast Spots In Belfast

1. The Errigle Inn

312-320 Ormeau Rd

Served from 10am, we can think of nowhere better than The Errigle Inn for a hearty breakfast.

We strongly recommend the Errigle Fry. You can go Small for £6.95 – but we believe in Go Big or Go Home. Hence we opted for the Large for two quid more. The typical fry consists of sausage, bacon, egg, soda bread, mushroom, black pudding & grilled tomato. But our friendly waitress happily substituted our eggs for something else (as you can see, we opted for more sausages).

Meanwhile, the Maple Syrup & Bacon Pancake Stacks for £5.95 were equally delicious.

Top marks for the menu, where you can chose from the likes of Eggs Benedict, Choice of Omelette Served With Toast, and Poached Eggs, Bacon, Grilled Tomato & Toast.

2. Birdcage

92 Stranmillis Road

We quickly became converts on our first Brunch Buddy excursion to Birdcage. As featured in 9 Reasons Why We Will Be Returning To Birdcage, the fr-omellette is an innovative take on the traditional fry. The oven baked fry is served in a skittle, with three eggs, clonakilty black pudding, mushrooms, bacon, tomato, sausage and soda dunkers. Meanwhile, the mouth-watering plate of French toast with bacon & maple syrup for £7.95 literally made our day.

But the extensive menu offers healthier options for the more carb-conscience. Such as the Fluffy scrambled eggs on sourdough & spinach with chorizo & guacamole. Or succulent Grilled smoked salmon served on sourdough with asparagus & hollandaise poached eggs and super food salad topped with poached eggs. To name a few.

In even better news? Bring a ‪#‎BrunchBuddy‬ for ‪#‎WeekendBrunch‬ and your ‪#‎Buddy‬ can munch on theirs for free between 10am -1.30pm Saturday & Sundays. Check out their Facebook for more info!

3. Hadskis

33 Donegall Street
Breakfast Fry at Handskis
The Full Hadskis Breakfast (Bacon, Sausage, Black & White Pudding, Tomato, Mushroom, Wheaten Bread & Egg) for £10.50 is the ideal weekend treat.
Whilst the jam-packed Brunch Menu (Available Saturday & Sunday from 11am – 2pm) features options including Grilled Focaccia, Egg & Smoked Streaky Bacon or Omelette with Chorizo, Potato, Tomato & Onion.
As well as lighter options such as Yoghurt with Berry & Honey. Check out the full Brunch Menu here.

4. Maggie Mays

Malone Rd & Botanic Av

As featured in our Top 10 Places For a Fry In Belfast, not only do Maggie Mays offer a Full Fry for a fiver (and a pretty good Veggie equivalent), but it serves up the magnificent Bumper Fry for just £1.10 more – consisting of two eggs, two bacon, two sausages, potato bread, soda bread, hash brown, mushrooms, beans, tomato and chips!

Added to this, the breakfast menu serves some mighty alternatives – and are great value for anyone on a strained budget. Including the New York Breakfast – cheesy scrambled eggs, bacon & toasted bagel for £4.60. Or the popular Breakfast Panini, where for £3.99 you can get bacon and eggs, sausage and egg, mushroom and egg – or create your own with two fillings of your choice.

Check out the full Breakfast Menu here.

5. Home

22 Wellington Place

From their delicious porridge to tasty bowls of fresh fruit, Home is quickly becoming our favourite stop for healthy yet delicious food on the go.

Add to this their deli brunch delights, such as Vegetarian eggs benedict, Smoked Salmon, Egg Mayo on fresh Croissant and the Broccoli tortilla – glutenfree with avocado, tomato, red pepper and egg. New to the deli menu.

6. Slim’s Kitchen

Lisburn Rd, Belmont Rd

The Healthy Breakfast – which includes a Toasted Gluten Free Soda Farl, Gluten Free Beef Sausage, Grilled Bacon, Tomato, Mushroom & poached egg – is a well-deserved treat for those on a health-kick. Whilst options such as the Vanilla French Toast (2 slices of Wholemeal Toast Dipped in Egg White and Vanilla Whey) helps set Slim’s apart from stiff competition.

7. Cast & Crew

Titanic Quarter Queens Road

Nestled underneath the Samson and Goliath Cranes of Harland and Wolff and between The Titanic Visitors Centre and The Belfast Metropolitan College, Cast and Crew bring great local food to the Titanic Quarter.

The small eclectic array of dishes from the breakfast menu features our all time favourite staples – including the Ulster Fry (naturally). But it also hits the spot with healthier yet tasty alternatives, such as the Smoked Salmon with scrambled eggs & sourdough toast; and the Grilled portobello mushroom, poached egg, sourdough & hollandaise.
