Maryville House has become famous for their afternoon tea consisting of homemade breads and pastries from their own bakery. The Victorian house is set in its own grounds in South Belfast making for a genteel experience.
Grand St, Lisburn
One of the most popular and well known microbreweries is the Hilden Brewery, located in Lisburn, which has been creating some of the finest quality craft beers since 1981.
Not only do they boast a collection of 11 draught beers and 5 bottled beers, the brewery at Hilden and its award-winning Tap Room Restaurant are well worth visiting, with weekly live music sessions and quality craft beer. Take a tour to discover the magic of brewing and learn about this ancient craft from a master brewer as he explains the process which converts malt and hops into traditionally brewed beer. After the tour you can sample the subtleties of flavour and character of Hilden’s finest beers.
6. Romantic Stroll
Through Botanic Gdns
As discussed in our Pros of a Staycation in Belfast, there’s plenty of walks and romantic things to do in Belfast without breaking the piggy bank.
Botanic Gardens is ideal due to its brilliant location beside the delicious cafes and restaurants along Stranmillis and Botanic Avenue.
The Lyric Theatre
Sitting comfortably in the brilliant Lyric Theatre bar (with a rather generous glass of wine, may we add) overlooking the River Lagan, waiting for a show to start is true bliss. Especially at the weekend. We highly recommend coming here to take in a show, or even just to soak up the gorgeous surroundings in the bar, before or after dinner in the fantastic nearby restaurants.
Or even better, why not make a night of it (and keep your hair dry) by staying under one roof. by adding a little theatrical sparkle to your Valentine’s evening in the Lyric Café Bar. Enjoy great food, wine and top class service with the best views in Belfast.
