Business is booming in Belfast right now, with a positive flurry of new businesses setting up shop this week.
With two well-established overseas businesses opening their new flagship stores in Belfast’s city centre – creating new jobs & opportunities – it seems a good sign for our retail industry.
Meanwhile, some particularly amazing new restaurants and cafes are taking advantage of our seriously expanding foodie scene – and we definitely don’t mind.
Whilst other new businesses are mysteriously shrouded in secrecy…
Check out Belfast’s newest businesses!
Great Victoria Street
Opened on Thursday July 28
Hundreds of Boojum fans were queued the length of Great Victoria Street today as Belfast’s newest Boojum restaurant prepared to open its doors for the very first time.
Despite the torrential rain which lasted all morning, swarms of crowds woke up early and made the special trip into Belfast city centre for their chance to be the very first superfans to see the new amazing new 75-seater restaurant in all its glory.
The massive new 95-seater restaurant which opened at 11.30 this morning, has taken over the ground floor of the building that previously housed the former Anglo Irish Bank on Great Victoria Street, making it the third Belfast store, and the seventh across Ireland.
2. Cafe Vanilla
13 Wellington Place
Opening in the coming weeks
Cafe Vanilla is opening in Belfast – and we’re far too excited!
We fell in love with Cafe Vanilla – as you can see from our recent feature: 5 Truly Tempting Treats To Try The Next Time You’re After A Serious Sugar Rush In Belfast.
But with the original store based in Lisburn, temptation was too far away for us to make our trips more than a one off treat.
Now with its fantastic new location right in the city centre – we fear for our waistline once these decadent delights are right round the corner from our office! Featuring stacks of waffles, ice-cream sundaes, chocolate cakes – and of course those famous giant profiteroles – we can’t wait for Cafe Vanilla’s Belfast premiere!
3. Moss Bros

Belfast’s newest clothing store is one for the men! Britain’s leading high-street tailoring retailer, Moss Bros, has just opened its Northern Ireland flagship store in Belfast.
Having opened this Thursday July 28, with an official launch scheduled for Thursday, the store marks the first time that the retailer has opened in a high-street location in the province, bringing their tailoring expertise to a new market for the first time.
Situated on Castle Lane in the heart of the city’s shopping district, the store is designed to be a haven away from the bustle of central Belfast, allowing customers space and time to select their tailoring, talk with tailoring experts and find exactly the right suit for them.
4. The Marcus Ward & Foundry
Club will open on August 5
This summer, one of Belfast’s landmark bar and club spaces returns to the scene, with a new look and a new name.
The Marcus Ward & Foundry will open in Bankmore Square this August, a site formerly occupied by Stiff Kitten and Chicago Pizza Pie Factory.
The bar is still under construction but this Friday night (August 5) will see the opening of the club with their new Friday resident party, AUX.
5. Cuffs Bar & Grill

Belfast newest dining experience, Cuff’s Bar & Grill is located at the infamous Crumlin Road Gaol. It’s another string to the bow for the magnificently restored former jail which also play hosts to daily tours and regular concerts.
There’s no denying that tourists will form a fair part of the target market, but this high quality dining experience has plenty to offer local foodies as well and is also a great spot for a families with small children.
The cuisine is US-inspired and while they take bookings, walk-ins are welcome too.

7. Mystery New Place…
Opening on August 15
Shrouded in mystery, all we know about this spot is when it’s opening – which is mid August (as you can probably tell)!
We’re particularly well acquainted with the Lisburn Road, and have know this place to change business a lot over the years. From the look of these images though, we reckon this looks set to be a new cafe or restaurant – so we hope it stands the test of time!
