Belfast’s exploding Cafe Culture scene means we have more dining out options than ever before.
Whilst just a few years ago it was all about looking forward to the pub (which we do still enjoy of course), nowadays, we love planning ahead to the weekend and trying new places for catch-ups with friends and significant others.
The vibrant cafe scene has also provided the ideal mood-lifting escape to our monotonous working week.
Here’s five places to try for seriously mouth-watering pancakes…
1. General Merchants
481 Upper Newtownards Road – Website
General Merchants is famous for two things – authentic coffee and seriously good food.
Just check out these Blueberry pancakes with whipped cheesecake filling, blueberry coulis and vanilla strusel – it looks like art on a plate – and tastes just as fantastic.
2. Tony & Jen’s
727 Lisburn Road – Website
Banana Notella pancakes at Tony & Jen’s are seriously delicious – as you may suspect from this drool-inducing image.
Loaded with fibre, protein & healthy fats, these are pretty much the ‘total opposite’ of “real pancakes” – meaning you can enjoy them totally guilt free!
Meanwhile, these Banoffee Pancakes – featuring salted caramel, banana nice cream and caramelised banana, cacao mousse and crunchy biscuity bits is available throughout June. Thank heavens it’s all healthy!

Lockview Road – Website
5A truly excels at brunch – as evidenced by these seriously mouth-watering pancakes. Pictured centre is the Buttermilk pancake with Vanilla Cream Cheese, Homemade Strawberry Syrup and Honeycomb.
We also seriously suggest you try the Homemade Buttermilk Pancakes and Honeycomb, with crushed Blueberry and Homemade Butterscotch Sauce.
Alternatively the blueberry pancakes with lemon cream cheese & stem ginger syrup is a great spicy twist on the norm, whilst the simple lemon and sugar option is always a winner.
4. Miel et Moi

These Red velvet pancakes with a creamy coconut syrup dressed with white chocolate from Belfast’s original patisserie are deliciously decadent. Not to be outdone are the truly tasty Banoffee pie pancakes!
5. Bert’s Jazz Bar
16 Skipper Street – Website
Fluffy buttermilk pancakes come complete with crispy bacon, maple syrup, banana and walnut at the delectable Bert’s Jazz Bar. Truly make it a ‘Weekend Brunch’ by adding Bloody Mary or Bucks Fizz with your choice of hot dish as well as tea or coffee for £16.50.
Belfast’s most famous jazz bar also showcases its famous music live from 12pm – 2pm – the perfect accompaniment to your luxurious brunch.
6. Established
37 Talbot Street – Website
Vanilla Pancakes with Mango and Mint Compote, Sweetened Mascarpone and Orange and Poppyseed Brittle £6.50 or add Bacon for an extra £1.50. Delicious!
