One of our favourite days of the year is here at last: Pancake Day.

Whether you had pancakes for breakfast, you’re making them for lunch – or going all out with a 12 cake pancake-fest for your dinner this evening, check out our positively delicious yet easy to follow foolproof pancake recipe. With (quite a few) serving suggestions included at the end which we recommend you positively heap on top. Yum.

Pancake Recipe – Makes About 12 Small Pancakes (double accordingly!)

Pancakes in 5 easy steps

You will need:

100g white plain flour

1 egg

150ml milk

150ml water

1 teaspoon olive oil (plus a bit more just for greasing the pan!)

5 Step Method:

1: Sift the flour into a bowl, make a well in he centre and break in the egg

2: Add a little milk and stir gently. Add the rest of the milk slowly and stir until smooth. Stir in the water and oil and beat for one minute.

3: Heat a drop of oil in an omelette pan. When the pan is really hot, pour in about 3 tablespoons of batter. Cook for just under one minute, using a spatula to keep an eye on how it’s cooking.

4: Now the FUN part – try to flip it. *If you’re dropping too many and when it’s no longer funny (and wasted pancakes rarely are to be fair) – just use the spatula to turn it over.

5: Cook the other side for roughly 15 seconds.

Top Tip:

If you’re making a whole stack for a crowd and you (naturally) want to eat together, simply stack the pancakes on a warmed plate as you go and cover (a tea towel or inverted plate both work well). Just put the plate on a saucepan of simmering water or in a cool oven.
